A century ago, Vishnu Springs attracted many people, offering hotel accommodations to overnight guests and medicinal spring waters to those who sought them. Today, Vishnu Springs is owned by the Western Illinois University Foundation.

Nestled in a secluded valley in West Central Illinois, off of a back road out of sight of passing motorists, is the home of the Capitol Hotel, the only surviving building in the deserted community of Vishnu Springs.
