Can someone tell us if possible seeing Vishnu Springs? Would love to take a tour and actually see and hear history in person. Any information about open house on June 30 so we can plan the day (3-4 hours away). Work dates where volunteers are welcome would be appreciated. Thank you hope hear from you soon Kathy Pfoutz- Peterson

Can you confirm that you're having an open house on 6/30 with the times? We'd like to take a day trip down there. If not, can you email me with any scheduled work dates or other "open to the public" dates? I'm intrigued and would love to offer labor if we can swing the dates. PS Unlike pretty much every other poster, I had never heard of this (or remember hearing about it) until I did a search for an image of the God Vishnu and stumbled across this. =)

Marla, I visited my best friend from school days this past weekend. Through a number of wildly convoluted coicidences, he shared that as a scout master in younger days he and his troop from Williamsfield, Illinois were camping on one occasion at the former Camp Pearl, near Tennessee. As he was leading them on a hike one day, he inadvertently discovered Vishnu, and he wants to come to Macomb for a visit and go see the site again. I see that there may be an open house in the spring, and I would love it if you could let me knowe when the dates are set. Alternately, would there be a way that my friend and I could go at some random date and explore on our own? Please let me know-thanks! Randy

I have read about and have actually dreamt about Vishnu. I am 61 years old, and am a retiree from the Air Force AND the state of Illinois and I would LOVE to volunteer to help preserve and restore the Vishnu site. I have assisted in historic preservation before out west and did not even realize something as Vishnu even existed this close to where I live here in Rockford. If there are any restoration or presevation projects involving Vishnu PLEASE let me know as I have a feeling that there is a reason I have been made aware of this at this time. This is important...the history of this land beckons and those of us who feel it are compelled to act to preserve and restore its beauty and history. Please feel free to contact me by e-mail or by telephone...815-282-3509. Thank you for your efforts to restore Vishnu.
