Yes, the open house was cancelled today. I'm sorry I didn't get this posted earlier, but didn't have access to a computer - out at Vishnu, you know. The rain that they had out there last night made the drive messy and it was not good for people to walk the hill down to the hotel. We did't want to see anyone fall. So, we will reschedule for the fall.

The Vishnu Springs Open House is still on for June 30th from 10 - 4. The lilies are in full bloom and the frogs are vocal. Go north from Tennessee or south from Blandinsville on E350th to N1100, turn west and follow the road about three miles to the Vishnu Gate. The open house is free to the public.

As I write this the open house for Vishnu IS scheduled for June 30th, Sunday of Heritage Days from 10 am to 4 pm. The delay in the announcement has been due to the weather and the wet conditions at the site. IF the weather continues to be dry, the open house will take place. IF there is weather between now and then, there is a VERY good chance that the open house will be rescheduled to another date. There will be VERY limited handicap transportation up and down the hill for those in need. If the open house is postponed, I will let you know as soon as the decision is made. Otherwise, you can access the site by traveling north or south on the Blandinsville/Tenneessee blacktop to 1100N and then turning west and following the signs.

It looks as though there will be an open house at Vishnu this year on Sunday, June 30th. This is the weekend of Heritage Days in Macomb. More details will be forthcoming.

I have very fond childhood memories of Vishnu Springs. I have not been there since I was a child and was surprised to read of its current statuspe from a simple Google search. Until reading some of the history I didn't even remember for sure why I was there. Apparently Alfred White, my mother's cousin by marriage had "leased" the property or some such. I can still remember running all over the place with my cousins, exploring every inch we possibly could without getting into trouble, while the adults in the family worked on trying to restore the place. I was hoping it had been turned over and restored to somewhere I could visit now as an adult and revisit for those easy carefree times. I must say, for all of the ghost hunters out there, if you are seeking that kind of thrill look elsewhere. Never in any of the time our family spent there was this ever involved. I was very surprise to learn of that reputation. I hope WIU will restore this the property into the special place it is in my memory so that many can share. Even as a young child it was special - so special that I member it after 40 plus years. I do regret that it is not a place I can come back to and visit now.
